There are no Pre-Requirements for the course except:
There will be no credit, reduction in cost or hours given for any previous training. A Pre-Study guide will be sent upon registration, which should be studied thoroughly. Although material will be covered during the training, it’s vital to arrive with some basic knowledge that the Pre-Study provides. A daily quiz and comprehensive test will be given at the end of each course from I-ACT which demands high standards for passing. The school and clinic are housed in the same facility. Therefore, it is imperative that students dress professionally and conservatively. It is also recommended that you bring a light sweater since inside temperatures differ greatly from the weather in Las Vegas. Students will also be participating in the role of the client, as well as a therapist in a clinical setting. Each student will receive a hands-on experience unless a contraindication exists. Students will be asked to leave if dressed inappropriately. NOTE: Program includes cleaning of the facility, So choose attire carefully as we will be using bleach along with other chemicals. Food will be provided your entire stay while at LVCHSC. In accordance with the curriculum on natural foods, whole grain baked goods and fresh fruit will be served daily for breakfast and snacks. For lunch there will be a variety of vegetarian soups that will be discussed while sharing recipes. Come taste how delicious learning can be! NOTE: There is a small refrigerator and microwave available for students on special diets.
Integrity is observed upon entrance in the course as noted by a level of understanding in the Pre-Study guide. At the end of each unit a written quiz is given. It is vital that each student relay understanding in the care of each client in which the instructor will be orally quizzing the students as well as observing implementations of principles into practice. Students are given letter-grades on quizzes which are reviewed in class then averaged. Each client evaluates the students through a series of questions which are then weighed as satisfactory and unsatisfactory. Unsatisfactory indicates that the student lacks compassion and understanding to safely attempt the therapy without additional classroom study and one on-one-assistance. Students must pass the comprehensive exam with at least 70% correct. Students with an overall “F” average are not eligible for readmission without completing the readmission process. Students with a “D” average may be readmitted with a 50% reduction in tuition. Job placement is not promised or guaranteed but resources will be provided when available.
