Breast Cancer is caused by a malignant tumor in the breast. This cancer starts in the cells of the breasts, and is the most common world wide next to lung cancer. Breast cancer has caused 502,000 deaths worldwide and is by far the most common cause of cancer both in incidence and death. Cases of this type of cancer have increased since the 1970’s and was partly blamed on modern life style in the western world.
North American women have the highest incidence of breast cancer in the world. Although, death rates caused by this disease have declined in the last few years. It is still the most feared, Even though Heart disease is a more common cause of death among women. Incidences in men are 100 times less common than in women, but still share the same survival rates.
Symptoms of Breast Cancer:

Indications of cancer other than a lump include the change in breast size or shape, skin dimpling, spontaneous single nipple discharge, or nipple inversion.
There are also symptoms such as:
- Pain in the breast
- Swelling
- Warmth and redness throughout the breast
- Orange peel textured skin
Paget’s disease of the breast can also be a sign. This causes symptoms like tingling, itching, increased sensitivity, burning, and pain.
Although there are many medications and surgical ways to help with this disease there are no ways to prevent it.
Treatments involve surgery when the tumor is localized with adjuvant hormonal therapy, chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
Unfortunately Breast Cancer is the oldest cancer known in humans, and scientists are still working on better forms and fashions to protection from this.
